Sunnybrook Research Day 2026
Research Day 2026 was an exciting opportunity to celebrate scientific discovery, collaboration, and innovation across Sunnybrook Research Institute. We were especially proud to see our summer students, Devlin and Rushil, along with our co-op student, Sachin, present their very first research posters. Over the past few months, they have worked diligently in the lab, learning new experimental techniques, analyzing data, and contributing to ongoing research projects. Research Da

🎉 Celebrating Professor Ronald Moore on His Retirement 🎉
This year marks the retirement of Dr Ronald Moore, a remarkable scientist, mentor, and supporter of our lab. As Deepak's PhD supervisor at the University of Alberta, Dr Moore has had a lasting impact not only on his trainees but also on everyone who has had the opportunity to learn from him. Over the years, our lab has greatly benefited from his guidance, insightful discussions, and willingness to share his knowledge and experience. His mentorship has helped shape our researc

☀️ Sunnybrook Lab Summer BBQ – Great Food, Great People, Great Memories! 🍔⚽🫧
Our lab took a well-deserved break from experiments and enjoyed an amazing summer BBQ together! It was one of those days that reminded us that a great lab is built not only on science but also on the people behind it. The burgers were absolutely delicious (definitely the highlight for many of us 🍔), while the kids kept everyone entertained with bubbles, laughter, and endless energy. Between catching up outside the lab, sharing plenty of jokes, and enjoying each other's compa

UTDRO RESERCH DAY: 2026
Excited to share that our work was recently presented at UTDRO by both Muhammad Rafiq and Manjusha Muralidharan, highlighting two complementary projects focused on advancing radiation-activated photodynamic therapy (radio-PDT) for glioblastoma. Muhammad presented our work on temozolomide co-encapsulated radio-PDT nanoparticles designed to overcome the limitations of conventional photodynamic therapy in deep-seated brain tumors. Using PEG-PLGA nanocarriers loaded with nanoscin

AACR 2026 - San Diego
Excited to share that Muhammad Rafiq recently presented our work at AACR in San Diego on radiation-activated photodynamic therapy (radio-PDT) for glioblastoma. Our study focuses on temozolomide co-encapsulated radio-PDT nanoparticles designed to overcome the limitations of conventional PDT in treating deep-seated brain tumors. We synthesized and characterized PEG-PLGA–based nanocomposites loaded with a nanoscintillator, PPIX, and temozolomide, and evaluated their therapeutic
